Complete these steps before the course

  1. Register for the course

Only pre-registered participants can take part in the course. The registration form is in Estonian — if your employer pays for the training, choose “Ettevõte” (company) as the payer. You can also register by emailing info@ropeaccess.ee. Booking, payment and cancellation terms: terms and conditions.

  2. Create your IRATA account

techconnect.irata.org/register (opens in a new window)

The account is how your details reach the IRATA system — without it you cannot take part in the assessment or receive a certificate. Creating an account is free of charge and involves no obligation. If it does not work, email info@ropeaccess.ee — we will help.

  3. Check your health

If you have any of the conditions listed under “Medical”, please contact us before the course.

  4. Check your logbook and certificate

Only for participants with an existing IRATA level

Your logbook must be brought on the first morning of the course. For upgrades and refresher training, your certificate must be valid. All requirements are listed below.

What happens next? Once the course date is confirmed, we usually send you more detailed information: the schedule and directions to the training centre.

Action required

What to bring

Mandatory, on the first morning of the course

  • Official photographic ID (passport or driving licence).
  • If you already hold an IRATA level (upgrade or revalidation): your IRATA logbook — without it you cannot take part in the course.
  • If you already hold an IRATA level: your IRATA ID card as well.

Recommended (not mandatory)

  • A water bottle
  • Comfortable clothing that allows movement
  • A top that can easily be taken off or put on without removing the harness
  • A jacket — the practical hall is at outdoor temperature
  • Footwear with a fairly stiff sole and good grip, e.g. trainers

Requirements

What applies to your situation

First-time participant

IRATA Level 1

  • No previous experience is required.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must be physically fit and have an aptitude for working at height.

Revalidation

  • Bring your IRATA logbook, IRATA ID card and official photographic ID.
  • Everyone must present their logbook — including those who qualified long ago or have not worked on ropes since.

Refresher training

  • Bring your IRATA logbook and IRATA ID card.
  • Your certificate must not have expired.

Upgrade

Level 1 → Level 2 or Level 2 → Level 3 · bring your IRATA logbook, IRATA ID card and official photographic ID

  • You need at least 1000 logged working hours at your current level and at least 1 year of experience at that level.
  • The hours must be countersigned by a rope access supervisor (Level 3) or a member of the employing company’s management (TACS 4.13.1). Hours that are not countersigned may not be counted, and the IRATA Assessor may refuse to assess you.
  • Do not include hours accrued during rope access training in the 1000 hours — they do not count. If the total falls below 1000 without them, you will not be admitted to the upgrade assessment.
  • Your certificate must be valid on the day of the assessment.
  • A first aid certificate is not required for a Level 3 assessment.

Lost your logbook? Replacement logbooks or other certification can be ordered from the IRATA website www.irata.org (opens in a new window).

About the course

Who the course is for and what you get

The course is for you if you want to

  • gain IRATA Level 1 skills and qualification;
  • upgrade, or revalidate a Level 1, 2 or 3 qualification;
  • deepen your theoretical knowledge and refine your practical skills.

Structure

Theory takes place in the classroom, practical training in the 8 m high practical hall. On the last day of the course, your skills are assessed by an independent IRATA Assessor — not by our trainer.

Result

If you attend the full course and pass the assessment, you receive an internationally recognised IRATA certificate, valid for 3 years. The certificate is issued in your own name — it stays with you if you change employer. If you do not pass, we issue a certificate of attendance.

IRATA training is provided by Kõrgtööde Koolitused OÜ, an IRATA certified member company (membership number 6067/T), at their IRATA approved training venue.
